RATIONALE FOR TECHNOLOGY CHOICES

The rationale for our technology choices comes from giving students the ability to complete work, refer to old content, and learn new or dive deeper into mental health disorder topics (Harackiewicz et al., 2016). Technology also helps to account for and assist learners online with captions and transcripts to help assist those with language barriers. Using imagery, extra videos, and podcasts allow for more viewpoints and much greater understanding. Technology helps in implementing learning methods like UDL guidelines and CAST’s principles.

WordPress: User-friendly and perfect for blog posts. Allows the instructor and peers to engage with each other’s blog posts. Also, their embedded link tool is very useful especially when referring to other content.

Google Forms: Used to administer mini quizzes and tests because it provides immediate feedback. Also it allows learners to take the quizzes/tests on any device, perfect for those who are on the go.

Google Docs: Great for collaboration between group members as you can work together and make edits in real-time along with a chat feature.

Zoom: Perfect platform to schedule meetings with peers or group members. Communication between students and the instructor is super important thus Zoom is a great platform as you can record sessions and post them for learners to watch later if they need a refresher or could not make the meeting.
